Packed Brooklands sees in the New Year

E-types were among the 1,100-plus cars at this year’s Brooklands Museum New Year’s Day event, which attracted nearly 5,000 visitors.

The Brooklands event is now one of the biggest 1 January car displays in the country and entry to the show also gives visitors the chance to see the museum, including the aircraft hangers and the Concorde. If you want to get into the paddock, you need to either get there very early or be driving something seriously posh like the pre-war Bentleys and Lagondas on show. Even the E-types had to park outside! Alongside dozens of Jaguars of all ages and models was a healthy turn-out of modern classics ranging from a DeLorean and a Lotus Cortina to a Mumford Marina convertible.

By 10:00am the main parking area was full and cars were being directed up to the banking, which became a car show in its own right, with hundreds packed along the famous stretch of track.
